Ya, true. There where only a couple available. Heck, Halo 2 didn't even use it (not that it really needed it mind you) and that was supposed to show off what Vista could do. Tray and play, whoop dee doo. Even now, games are being released without DX10 support, and it's been out for how long?
Also, Wikipedia apparently states that Battlefield Bad Company 2, Crysis 2, F1 2010 and Grid 2 will also be using DirectX 11. I'm sure if games warrant it, we will be seeing some older game...
I'm still not ready to trade in the ol' 4870X2 just yet. ATI's new card is sounding pretty impressive. It's too bad their older cards can't just go DirectX 11, considering they've included many of the necessary features in their past 3 generations of cards (like the tesselator).
I hope they do a decent job with the next Stalker game. The first one was alright, but the second stalker fell apart half way through the game. It's like they just gave up half way through. And the nee...
The nice thing about this case is it can be intergrated into a hometheatre rackmount for that professional look, but if you check out the product page, every single feature you can think of for this thing costs big bucks. Want some memory card slots cut for you? That will be twenty bucks. WTF? Want some slots cut for the USB ports? 15 bones will do it. But 699 for the standard case, give me a break. I'm surprised some other company (besides Lian-Li) hasn't come along and made a decent, yet af...
If Microsoft really wants to compete, they have to sell the 360s for less than the PS3, not at the same price. Don't scrap the Pro! They should keep the Pro, and the Elite. Scrap the Arcade model. Price has to stay under the PS3 by a wide margin.
My first one died, my second one died as well, so I water cooled that bad boy and she's been good ever since, did that last summer. It was expensive, but I had some extra parts lying around. Anyway, she works good now. But to have to go through that with a console just to get it to work...
I want to know, does the newest one, the Jasper, still use those X-Clamps to secure the heat sinks? Replace those with some screws and you should be fine.
That is one hell of a decent list, glad I've got myself a decent PC. And quite a few of those titles are Games for Windows Live ready. I don't really care too much about the achievements, but it's nice to have everything linked up with my Xbox account. Connecting PC to TV through HDMI, grabbing a wireless controller and playing some maxed out games is awesome, all from the couch.
Though I will probably hold off on the new Stalker. GSC has a bad habit of releasing those games wit...
I can see retail stores loosing money over all the extra stickers they are going to have to use to change the price tag on this game when it doesn't sell at 60 bucks.
PC games should stay at $50 bucks a pop or less. You don't need to pay for licensing fees to someone, so that extra 10 bucks is pure profit. I'll wait until it comes down in price. Hell, just picked up Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for under 20 bucks (Canadian at that), I can wait for Modern Warfare 2.
Activision has become too greedy as of late and are really running their IPs dry. How many Guitar Hero games have come out in the last 2-3 years? Almost a dozen or more. They gotta come up w...
Of course she'll be DLC, why not when they can charge another 5-10 dollars and make even more profit with such an in demand character, it's the only logical reason. These are sad times we live in. I remember back in the day when PC games got patched and updated, giving you new levels and characters... for free, just for being a loyal customer. What happened here? DLC just fragments game communities into people who have the DLC and people who don't.
I remember one of the oddest u...
This would be awesome, I don't mind it being based on the arcade version but that one wasn't as lengthy as the SNES version I believe. I wouldn't mind seeing some new levels and stuff mixed in with this remake to add some substance to it. Always was a great game.
Personally, I have to say I have stopped purchasing these games at 1200 points unless there is some real value there, otherwise I am content to wait around until they drop in price or go on sale, and even then it better be at 800 or less.
I think only if it is a brand new, built from the ground up game and has enough length and longevity to make it worthwhile, then they can charge 1200 points for it. Games like Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie shouldn't be 1200 MS points, as they are a simple rehash of already finished products with minimal upgrades. Had they gone back and remodelled/retextured and done more upgrades to these games, then it could be justified. But short games and rehashes should be around the 800 or less pile, pr...
This technology has potential I must say. Now everyone at their office with a crappy PC can play high end games at work. I still see problems with this system. If they end up getting enough subscribers, that will put more strain on their systems and we might see some games dropping in quality to accommodate for it. Time will tell.
I hope intel decides to release a few more higher end chips for this platform. I like my Q9450 and all but picking up another similarly priced chip in the future that I can overclock a little more would be nice. Something like a multiplier locked (or unlocked...) version of the QX9750 or something even faster but at a respectable price for the average consumer. Maybe not high end Core i7 power but something to give the the 775 platform one last hurrah to go out on. People aren't really flocki...
I still wish that the audio/video companies would have adopted some form of DVI cable instead of the connector used by HDMI. HDMI is a nice cable, audio and video together is great, but you can't screw them in and lock them down, DVI can. I'm sure they could have got the same functionality out of DVI as well. Oh well, hopefully this helps.
Oh hey I think the rest of the controller is awesome, it's just that the D-Pad is so crappy. Microsoft should have tried to license Sega's design or something so they could of had something half decent. Really makes pulling off moves in fighting games hard.
Okay, if Mad Catz can make a D-Pad similar to Nintendo's own, then why can't a company like Microsoft? Seriously, all those 3rd party companies and unlicensed companies make them, how do they get away with it, while Microsoft continues to use that useless design of it's own?
This isn't that surprising to me. You port a game to the PC and you don't do a good job, gamers read reviews and they know so they avoid it. It seems that lately we've been getting quite a few bad works on the PC. First Far Cry 2 and (to a lesser extent) Fallout 3, now GTAIV. Unacceptable. Minor issues aren't so bad, but the issues with GTAIV are big and are occurring at a great frequency. Tsk tsk Rockstar.
I hope this comes to North America. If not, the PC is not region restricted so imports are easy. Though this game is one of those touchy ones where some people liked it, but others did not.
It would probably be cheaper and more cost effective to use a PC part, like a 4870/4890 or one of the GeForce 2xx series to do that. More powerful and can give you better bang for the buck. Sure, you can do it, but I wouldn't be using a standard 360 to do that. You know, the GPU is the main cause of RROD in a 360... I wouldn't want to be cramming these calculations for a few hours (days, weeks whatever) and have it break down on me. If you wanted to go to the trouble of using the GPU from a 3...
